1. To narrow down on the number of names you have to physically draw, tell the joiners to guess which of ??? will be the winner. Then only the ones who guessed right will be entered into the draw. Example: Tell them to guess which of the three (rock, paper, scissors) will be the winner. Then have two people play; which ever sign the winner has played is the chosen one. Then only the people who guessed the right sign are entered into the draw...
